We have been here two times before the pandemic. Both times we enjoyed the cold and warm pinchos very much. This time we also ordered some tapas from the menu and a "jarra" of sangria. We liked the sangria very much (not too strong and nice balance of sweetness). The tapas (ribs, ceviche and croquetas) were really tasty. The variety of cold pinchos was nice and we loved the combinations of ingredients on each of them. The warm pinchos were very good too!
It definitely remains on our list of favorite restaurants! During the weekend it should be packed but we came here during a weekday at 5pm (when they just Open) and it was nice and quiet and we sat downstairs for the first time.
Amazing food with top class service. Chaim and his team took good care of us while we were celebrating our birthdays there. Be prepared to indulge the hot pinchos as the staff bring the fresh selections over your way at the table. Highly recommend this place and will be coming back soon.
This is my first time visiting a Pincho bar and i really enjoyed it! For a context, Pincho is the little food that you can see in the pictures (they are different from Tapas because they are served in a cocktail stick). The restaurant serve both warm and cold pinchos. There's there ways you can get your food:
1.For cold pinchos, you can go to the counter and pick the ones that you like;
2. For warm pinchos, the waiters will walk around every 10 minutes or so with a different ones and ask if you want them;
3. You can also order straight from the menu for a mix of cold pinchos where they just choose them for you. The restaurant also serve some really delicious tapas and you can order them from the menu.
Almost all the pinchos we ordered have some funky combination that we have never thought of. Every Pincho is a surprise! On a little side note, we have to order quite a lot of them to be full. For food only (including dessert), we prob spend around 30e per person. For dessert we get a pistachio coulant and a homemade Santiago cake. I prefer the pistachio coulant better but they are both great.
For those who like to try unique flavors, this is the place to visit! A little tip: Wait for the waiters to serve you warm pinchos (instead of ordering cold pinchos) because they are tastier (imo). Would definitely come back again.
Everything I tasted was soo delicious! Staff was also very polite and helpful. Looking forward to come back in spring and sit next to the canal.
We found a spot at the bar and ordered a few tapas and picked a few cold and warm pinchos. Some were tasty, some sounded interesting but where a bit plain, such as the beetroot tartar and some were overdone, such as the garlic chicken, which was dry. Several staff didn't speak Dutch, a strange experience we found in many establishments and stores around town. All in all too expensive for the experience we had.
Fully 5 stars, thank you for taking good care of us for 2,5hrs! Happy customer with happy belly and enjoyed the good service :)
We've ordered sangria, mixed cold pinchos, some warm pinchos (which we didn't plan to take but couldn't resist), some tapas, and dessert. Loved it all!
My favorites were (with a bit of help of the friendly staff)
- Mixed pinchos (each had its beauty)
- Pulpo!!! So soft, and very well balanced flavors
- Zucchini/aubergine with honey, batatas bravas, pleasantly surprised by the way it was prepared
- Varkenshaas, soft, warmer flavors, savory. It was a nice finish for us to end our dinner with :)
The dishes are mentioned just as the way we ordered, can't choose a favorite :)
And I only took one picture of the food, because we were too busy enjoying.
The experience there was really nice, it was pleasant to see how the kitchen was working in a good flow, staff was very attentive (we felt very welcome and taken care of), loved the detail that the lamps were Kesbeke jars
Having dined at the birthplace of pinchos in Bilbao I can honestly say De Zwarte Vosch knows what they are doing. A great ambiance with friendly staff, a wide selection of cold pinchos and great tapas dishes (get the ribs!) and they make rounds with hot pinchos. Great vibes, great food.
Concept is nice but warm pinchos need to be more frequent, we were offered 4 during the whole evening. Cold pinchos were tasty, tapas were excellent. Overall a nice evening be it not for the few warm pinchos. Oh and a bit expensive but I suppose everything is more expensive currently.
